About the collection: Wandering Day Dreams

Wandering Day Dreams is a journey of simple acceptance of what was, what is and what will be.

Artist Makara Thach Sernett observes moments in her colorful personal history much like how she observes passing clouds: with wistful fondness and acceptance.

By getting lost in hazy memories of a childhood in Thai refugee camps, biking along rice paddies in Vietnam and the challenging reality of being an immigrant, Makara eventually is found in daydreams. She finds love for her naive younger self, and embraces her complex adult self through simple observation.

Important details:

This piece will be on display at the “Wandering Day Dreams” exhibit from July 8th to October 12th, 2023. Coordination for shipping and handling will occur upon completion of the show.

Please note shipping is not included in the listing price. Shipping cost will be determined at completion of show when specifics of delivery will be prepared. By purchasing this original work, you understand that an additional invoice for shipping fees will follow.

Materials and construction:

This acrylic painting is on heavy duty archival-quality natural cotton canvas. The canvas structure is professionally constructed, with medium-weight cotton duck stretched around 1.5″ profile kiln-dried stretcher bars, and held in place with a flexible spline.

The completed artwork is presented in a custom flat frame made of solid aspen wood, with 1″ face to present the artwork and 3″ profile to perfectly nest the canvas. MW, local artisan carpenter, has executed each step in the building process with utmost attention to detail, starting from sourcing materials to the final steps of top coat.
